Manna Meals
For over 15 years, members of the Northwest Catholic community, including students, parents, teachers, staff, and alumni, have prepared a meal on the first Monday of each month at Manna Meals. This meal, held at the parish center of Christ Church Cathedral in downtown Hartford, was started by Mrs. Gillespie and student Shana Moynihan '05 through the Hands On Hartford organization (originally called Center City Churches). The monthly meal remains an active part of the Campus Ministry program.
Our standard meal has evolved over the years based on nutritional needs, availability, and suggestions from the guests. It currently consists of homemade Chicken Catalina, noodles Alfredo, corn, tossed salad, fruit salad, bread and dessert, usually brownies with ice cream. All members of the Northwest Catholic community are invited to participate by donating food through our SignUpGenius LINK and/or by donating your time. Students can ride a school bus/van from school or can meet at the parish center. Others can meet us directly at the parish center by 5:00 pm. We are usually done by 7:00 pm. We serve our meal through the summer as well.
